Apple Foldable iPhone to Use Biggest Battery Ever as Flip Model Is Explored

Apple foldable iPhone battery leak

Apple is preparing its first foldable iPhone with a strong focus on battery life, according to multiple recent reports from supply chain sources and analysts. The device is expected to feature the largest battery ever used in an iPhone, setting it apart from current foldable phones on the market.

Recent leaks suggest Apple is testing battery sizes between 5400 mAh and 5800 mAh for the foldable iPhone. If finalized, this would exceed the battery capacity of the iPhone 17 Pro Max and rival foldable devices from Samsung and Google. Analysts say Apple plans to rely on high density battery cells to improve daily use time without increasing thickness.

The foldable iPhone is expected to open like a book, with a large inner display close to 7.8 inches and a smaller outer screen around 5.5 inches. Reports also point to the use of the A20 chip and the return of Touch ID. Apple has not confirmed specifications or timing, but consistent reporting suggests a possible launch alongside the iPhone 18 Pro lineup in late 2026.

At the same time, Apple is already testing additional foldable designs. Bloomberg reports that Apple teams are exploring a smaller clamshell style foldable iPhone that folds into a square shape. This flip style model remains early in development and may never reach consumers, but it shows Apple is considering multiple foldable formats.

Battery life has been one of the biggest challenges for foldable phones due to large displays and thin designs. If Apple delivers a foldable iPhone with significantly better battery performance, it could reshape expectations in a category that is only now gaining wider adoption
