Samsung has announced a major expansion of Galaxy AI, introducing a multi agent ecosystem that integrates multiple AI assistants at the system level. As part of the update, Perplexity will be added to upcoming flagship Galaxy devices, including the Galaxy S26 series.
The company said internal research shows nearly 8 in 10 users rely on more than two AI agents for different tasks. Galaxy AI is being redesigned to reflect that behavior by supporting multiple assistants directly within the operating system rather than limiting them to individual apps.
Perplexity will be accessible through a new voice wake phrase, “Hey Plex,” alongside existing hotwords such as “Hey Google” and “Hey Bixby.” Users will also be able to activate it by pressing and holding the side button. Samsung confirmed that Perplexity will be embedded across select first party apps including Notes, Gallery, Calendar, Clock, and Reminder, as well as certain third party apps.
Samsung describes Galaxy AI as an orchestrator that connects different AI services into a unified experience. By integrating agents at the framework level, the system is designed to reduce the need to switch between apps or repeat commands. The approach also enables smoother multi step workflows by allowing AI to understand user context across tasks.
Won Joon Choi, President and COO of Samsung’s Mobile eXperience Business, said “We’ve been committed to building an open and inclusive integrated AI ecosystem that gives users more choice, flexibility and control to get complex tasks done quickly and easily,”
The goal is to build an open and inclusive AI ecosystem that gives users more choice and control when completing complex tasks. Samsung said additional details about supported devices and features will be announced soon, with the Galaxy S26 launch expected next week.
