Apple AI Pin Wearable Reportedly in Development for 2027 Launch

Apple AI Pin

Apple is reportedly developing an AI powered wearable pin, signaling a potential new push into dedicated AI hardware. According to multiple reports citing The Information, the device is still in early development and could launch as soon as 2027, if it reaches production.

The wearable is described as a thin, flat, circular device, roughly the size of an AirTag but slightly thicker. It is said to feature an aluminum and glass body, two cameras, three microphones, a speaker, and a physical control button. Wireless charging similar to the Apple Watch is also expected.

The AI pin is designed to capture audio and visual context from the user’s surroundings, operating independently rather than as an iPhone accessory. Reports suggest it may run a future version of Siri, as Apple prepares a major AI overhaul expected with iOS 27.

The move places Apple in direct competition with emerging AI hardware efforts from OpenAI and others. OpenAI executives have confirmed plans to unveil their first AI device later this year, while past attempts such as Humane’s AI Pin failed to gain traction and were later shut down.

Apple has not confirmed the product or its release timeline. However, reports indicate the company is exploring the category as competition intensifies around AI driven personal devices. Whether Apple can succeed where others struggled remains uncertain, especially given privacy concerns tied to always on cameras and microphones.

For now, the reported AI pin highlights Apple’s broader effort to expand beyond software and integrate AI more deeply into new hardware form factors.
