Apple has introduced the iPhone 17e, a new entry level model in the iPhone 17 lineup, priced at 599 dollars in the United States. Pre orders begin March 4, with retail availability starting March 11 across more than 70 countries.

Positioned below the standard iPhone 17, the iPhone 17e focuses on delivering core flagship performance at a lower price. It runs on Apple’s latest A19 chip built on a 3 nanometer process, paired with a 6 core CPU and a 16 core Neural Engine. Apple says the chip delivers up to twice the performance of the iPhone 11 and supports advanced Apple Intelligence features built into iOS 26.

The device features a 6.1 inch Super Retina XDR OLED display protected by Ceramic Shield 2, which Apple claims offers three times better scratch resistance than the previous generation. Unlike the standard iPhone 17, the 17e uses a single rear 48MP Fusion camera. It supports 24MP default shooting, 2x optical quality zoom, Night mode, Portrait enhancements, and 4K Dolby Vision video recording up to 60 frames per second.

Battery life is rated at up to 26 hours of video playback. The phone supports USB C fast charging, reaching up to 50 percent in about 30 minutes, along with MagSafe and Qi2 wireless charging up to 15W.

Connectivity includes Apple’s new C1X modem, which the company says is up to twice as fast as the previous generation while using 30 percent less energy. Satellite features such as Emergency SOS, Roadside Assistance, Messages, and Find My remain supported when outside cellular coverage.

Storage now starts at 256GB, double the base storage of its predecessor, with a 512GB option available. The iPhone 17e comes in black, white, and soft pink.

With foldable competition rising and smartphone upgrades slowing globally, Apple’s strategy with the iPhone 17e centers on value retention, longer software support, and balanced performance at a mid tier price point.
